NUBY Octopus Floating Bath Toy Review

One thing that my 17 month-old daughter really enjoys is a bath! I can say "bath time" and she is up the stairs and in the bathroom in seconds! We recently tried out a new toy in the bath and is was a winner. The NUBY Octopus Floating Bath Toy is a simple, yet engaging toy that keeps my daughter entertained for the entire bath time.

The toy comes with an octopus and three colorful rings. The rings are a great size for little hands and  the bright colors make them easy to spot even in bubbly water.

Right away, my little girl began to grab the rings and figure the whole thing out. Hmmm. Too small to fit around it's head. How about... ah hah! Put it on those little arm things.



 

After she got all the rings on the octopus, she took them all off and began to get creative. I never knew that letting water flow through a hole could be so fun. She just sat there with the ring under the faucet with not a care in the world. It went on and on and on. :) Eventually, bath time had to come to an end, but that didn't not stop her from carrying one of the rings with her to her room and holding on to it until I put her to bed.

 

 

One of my favorite features of the NUBY Octopus is that there aren't any of those annoying little holes that fill up with water. Bath toys that don't dry out are not fun. Of course, I also love that this toy encourages exploration and hand-eye coordination. And if you happen to have more than one child in the tub at the same time, they can both play with it. NUBY Feeding Snack Keeper Review

 



I am so excited that I am now a NUBY Mommy Blogger because it has opened my eyes to some great products that I didn't know were even available. When my two boys were toddlers, I had a snack cup for them and it was great. But now that my daughter is old enough to feed herself, I needed to find a snack cup for her. NUBY provided the Feeding Snack Keeper for my review and it is the cutest thing ever!

The Snack Keeper is made up of three pieces (BPA free) that lock in place to form a perfectly-sized cup for little hands. My daughter immediately grabbed the cup from me after I filled it with some goldfish.

Being her first experience with a snack cup, she took a minute to get used to the idea that the goldfish weren't just going to pour out. After some digging around, she figured out the process of pulling out the fish. The Snack Keeper does have handles, but the rim of the cup is also great for holding.

Once she got the hang of it, there was no stopping her! Mmm. And I love how durable the Snack Keeper is. Several drops from the highchair and still going strong. When she dropped the cup, guess what? No mess!

Success!

Four Great Uses for Baby Blankets in the Summer

4. And don't forget the all-time best use for a blanket in the summer... for sitting on! Adults and babies alike will appreciate a soft barrier between themselves and the itchy grass. Bring on the picnics.

Child Passenger Safety Week

The week of September 16 through 22 is Child Passenger Safety week. This is a great time for parents to brush up on the safest ways of getting their little ones around. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has a recently launched a new website called Parents Central, which has great information about transportation safety. From how to correctly secure your child in his car seat, to school bus and bike safety, this site is a must-read if you have little ones (or big ones)!

Did you know that there are different requirements on how to restrain your baby depending on the type of car seat you use? Shoulder straps on rear-facing car seas must be positioned at or BELOW the child's shoulders, while straps on forward-facing seats must be positioned at or ABOVE the child's shoulders.

Do you ever buckle your child into her seat while she is wearing a winter coat? According to the NHTSA, you should never put your child in bulky clothing in the car seat, but rather place a blanket or coat on top of the buckle once your child is properly secured.

Another common mistake is not placing the chest clip at the right height. The chest clip should be in line with child's armpits. When properly secured, you should not be able to 'pinch any extra material at the child's shoulders.'

The NHTSA has partnered with Chuggington to provide a Traffic Safety Program for you to use with your child. Complete with tips and activities, this program is a great tool for staying safe when riding in a car, bus, on a bike, or walking!
